AgeAlert™ & Shelf-life

One of the most common ways to track degradation is to assign a "shelf life" such as the "sell by" date on groceries, or the planned replacement time for an industrial motor.

While an improvement over the "run it until it breaks" philosophy, this method does not take into account the operating environment or use of the product. This can be a serious shortcoming because product life can change significantly with changes in temperature, humidity, or other environmental or operational conditions.

AgeAlert™ technology is a vast improvement over shelf-life dating methodology since it accurately tracks the chemical degradation of many products due to environmental and changing operating conditions.

AgeAlert™ technology incorporates tiny sensors, attached to the product or product packaging so that they "see" the same environment as the product they are monitoring. AgeAlert™ sensors give advance warning of degradation caused by environmental factors, allowing replacement or repair before failure.

AgeAlert™ improves personnel and equipment safety and reduce costs by identifying products which need repair or replacement, and extending the life of those which have suffered little degradation.
