Advantages of AgeAlert™

AgeAlert™ sensors are passive, accurate and reliable because they are made of the same material as the product they are monitoring. This means that they age in exactly the same way under the same conditions as the product.

They save cost by eliminating the need for complex hardware and software to model product degradation.

They improve safety by providing advance warning before failure of products. For example, AgeAlert™ sensors embedded in motor and generator windings give advance warning before excessive degradation of the insulation, improving safety and saving money by allowing replacement or repair before costly downtime.

AgeAlert™ technology eliminates the need for special equipment or training.

These and other advantages of AgeAlert™ technology resulted in grants of four research and development awards by the Department of Energy to demonstrate AgeAlert™ technology in motors, generators and wire and cable in nuclear power plant applications.

With the new emphasis on "clean" and safe energy technologies, AgeAlert™ will significantly improve reliability and reduce maintenance costs in nuclear power and other major industries.

Since AgeAlert™ sensors are tiny, they can be incorporated in a large variety of products.

They are passive, in that they do not require electrical power to follow product degradation.

And, they can be incorporated into simple product labels, radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, or they can be read by simple wired, wireless or contact readers to warn users before product failure.
